What Is a Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF)?
Many modern vehicles are fitted with a dual mass flywheel (DMF) rather than a traditional solid flywheel.
A DMF is designed to:

Because this component sits behind the gearbox:
It cannot be accessed without removing the gearbox
It’s often recommended to replace it during clutch replacement if there are signs of wear or leakage
